Gulfton’s National Night Out 2025 Draws Record Crowd and Lights Up Burnett Bayland Park

The Gulfton Management District hosted one of its most successful National Night Out celebrations to date at the Harris County Courthouse at Burnett Bayland Park, drawing more than 3,000 attendees for an evening of family fun, community connection, and public safety engagement.

A Night of Celebration and Community Spirit

The park came alive with the sound of music, laughter, and conversation as families enjoyed train rides, dunk tanks, and face painting, while dozens of vendors offered free trinkets, giveaways, and helpful community resources. Guests were also treated to complimentary food throughout the evening, creating a festive atmosphere that truly reflected Gulfton’s inclusive and welcoming spirit.

Adding excitement and spectacle to the night were the LED Transformer robots, who danced and roamed the park in glowing costumes that lit up the crowd and delighted children and adults alike.

Beloved Houston mascots — Clutch from the Houston RocketsDiesel from the Houston Dynamo, and several other vendor mascots — brought even more fun, stopping for photos and dancing with attendees.

Special Guests and Stage Highlights

Radio host and official Houston Rockets emcee Kiotti Brown brought his signature energy as host, keeping the crowd entertained and engaged from start to finish.

The event also featured a special meet and greet with Houston hip-hop artist and community advocate Trae Tha Truth, who connected with residents, posed for photos, and shared words of encouragement about unity and giving back to the community.

On stage, the Gulfton Management District recognized law enforcement partners, community organizations, and vendors for their dedication and service. The district also received letters of recognition from several elected officials, commending Gulfton’s continued leadership in fostering safety, inclusion, and neighborhood pride.

Law Enforcement Engagement and Public Safety Presence

This year’s National Night Out featured a strong and visible public safety presence. The Houston Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit greeted families throughout the park, offering children the chance to meet the horses up close.

The Houston Fire Department was also on site, giving families an up-close look at one of their fire trucks. Children and adults alike had the opportunity to explore the truck and even experience what it’s like to suit up as a firefighter, creating memorable moments for attendees of all ages.

Captain Lee Donovan of HPD’s South Gessner Station and the Differential Response Team—well-known for serving the community daily from the HPD Gulfton Storefront—were also in attendance, engaging with residents and sharing information about neighborhood safety programs.

The district was honored by the participation of Larry SatterwhiteDirector of Houston’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, and Council Member Edward Pollard, both of whom emphasized the value of collaboration between residents, city leaders, and law enforcement.
