Business & Economic Development

This Committee meets every second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 P.M.

About

A management district’s main goal is to foster economic development of an area. Gulfton Area District is no different and has created the Economic Development Committee in service of that goal. The Economic Development Committee discusses and develops new stories about the area, marketing and promotion of the district, business retention and expansion initiatives, district events, and community relations. This committee also works closely with the creative contractors of the district who provide graphic design, photography, and videography services as needed.

 

Mission

To strengthen Gulfton’s economy by attracting new investment, supporting local businesses, and promoting the district as a destination for commerce, culture, and community life. This includes business retention programs, marketing initiatives, and partnerships that create jobs and drive economic vitality.

Overview

Public Safety

This committee meets every second Tuesday of the month at 1:00 P.M.

About

Public safety is important to everyone. To better address safety concerns, the Gulfton Area District created the Public Safety Committee. This committee discusses and implements public safety initiatives such as contracting with HPD to provide overtime for officers in the area, enhanced public safety patrols, contracting with Zaladium to provide mobile camera units at no cost to property owners, graffiti abatement, nuisance abatement, apartment initiatives, and coordinating with the community to identify and address issues important to the district.

 

Mission

To enhance the safety and security of the Gulfton area by supporting initiatives that prevent crime, improve emergency response, and foster community trust. This includes collaboration with law enforcement, investment in surveillance technology, and programs that promote a safe environment for residents, businesses, and visitors

Environmental & Urban Design

This Committee meets every second Tuesday of the month at 10:30 A.M.

About

Gulfton is a diverse area, and the Gulfton Area District seeks to celebrate that diversity through the Environmental & Urban Design Committee. The Environmental & Urban Design Committee discusses district-wide beautification projects such as landscaping, branded way finding and street signage, litter abatement, branded monumentation, and multiple art and beautification initiatives.

 

Mission

To improve the visual appeal and environmental quality of the district through beautification projects, streetscape enhancements, public art, and green space development. The committee works to ensure Gulfton’s public spaces are attractive, accessible, and reflective of the community’s cultural vibrancy.

Overview

Long Range Planning

This Committee meets every second Tuesday of the month at 11:00 A.M.

About

The Gulfton Area District created the Long-Range Planning Committee to serve the needs of the Gulfton Area through management and implementation of Multi-Year Projects, Transportation Improvement Projects, ULI Technical Assistance Panels, H-GAC Livable Centers Grants, Parks Board Trail Systems, and Park and Greenspace Improvements. This committee will also coordinate with area partners to enhance and improve the district as a whole.

 

Mission

To shape the district’s long-term vision by identifying future needs, setting strategic goals, and planning large-scale projects that will benefit Gulfton for years to come. The committee evaluates infrastructure improvements, growth opportunities, and partnerships to ensure sustainable development.
