When a planned CenterPoint Energy maintenance project temporarily left residents at Lantern Village Apartments without power, the Gulfton Management District worked alongside community partners to help ensure residents remained comfortable throughout the day.
District staff established a temporary relief station on-site, providing breakfast pastries, pizza, cold water, and juice to residents affected by the outage. The effort was designed to support families while crews completed important infrastructure work in the area.

In partnership with Commissioner Lesley Briones’ Office, cooling buses were also made available to residents, offering a comfortable space to escape the summer heat while power was being restored.
The response reflects the Gulfton Management District’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents during both planned and unexpected disruptions. While infrastructure improvements are necessary to maintain reliable service, the District recognizes the importance of helping residents navigate temporary inconveniences with dignity and care.

While the maintenance work was outside the District’s control, supporting residents during the disruption was not. The Gulfton Management District remains committed to identifying opportunities to assist the community when challenges arise, whether through neighborhood improvements, public safety initiatives, or direct support during unexpected events and service interruptions.
As Gulfton continues to grow and improve, partnerships like these help ensure that residents remain at the center of every effort.
