For Keith Wagner, construction has been part of life for as long as he can remember.
Growing up in Sharpstown, Keith spent weekends helping his father maintain rental properties. What started with cleaning homes, painting walls, and learning basic repairs eventually evolved into a career in remodeling, homebuilding, importing, and construction development.
Today, that experience has come full circle at Direct Luxury Solutions, a Gulfton-area business helping builders, apartment owners, contractors, and homeowners access premium building materials at competitive prices.
“I’ve probably been in this area for 25 years,” Keith shared. “I started remodeling, then buying and renovating houses, then moved into new construction.”
Over time, his work expanded beyond Houston. While traveling internationally for business, Keith began importing granite directly from quarries in South America for his own construction projects. That experience opened the door to sourcing unique materials, furnishings, décor pieces, and specialty products from around the world.
What began as a way to support his own developments eventually became something larger.
Today, Direct Luxury Solutions serves as a showroom and warehouse featuring a wide range of products, including tile, stone, fixtures, and design materials that would traditionally come with a much higher retail price tag.
The concept is simple. Every construction project requires ordering extra material to avoid costly delays. After more than two decades in the industry, Keith accumulated an extensive inventory of excess materials that could still provide tremendous value to future customers.
Rather than allowing those materials to sit unused, he created a space where builders, property owners, and residents could purchase quality products while reducing costs.
That approach has already led to partnerships with local apartment communities, including renovation projects within the Gulfton area.
Amy Wagner believes one of the company’s greatest strengths is its accessibility.
“People can come in and see the material themselves,” she explained. “They can touch it, compare it, and see how everything looks together. Design is a tactile experience.”
That hands-on approach has helped Direct Luxury Solutions build relationships with customers who appreciate being able to see and feel products before making important renovation decisions.
The company’s growing reputation recently caught the attention of Houston real estate broker Nicole Handy, who described the business as one of Houston’s hidden gems for remodeling and construction materials.
“Stop paying retail prices for home materials when Houston has a hidden warehouse selling luxury finishes up to 80% off,” she said during a visit to the showroom. “This place literally has every building material you can think of for a fraction of the cost.”
Beyond the inventory itself, Direct Luxury Solutions represents something larger: a local business investing in relationships and creating solutions for property owners, apartment operators, contractors, and residents throughout Gulfton and beyond.
As the district continues to grow and evolve, businesses like Direct Luxury Solutions demonstrate how entrepreneurship, innovation, and community partnerships can create opportunities that benefit both local businesses and the neighborhoods they serve.
