This year’s HPD Eggstravaganza was a joyful celebration of spring but more importantly, it was a celebration of community. Organized by the HPD South Gessner Division, which serves the Gulfton area, the event was a joyful celebration of family, culture, and connection, with a focus on strengthening the relationships between residents and law enforcement. Gulfton Management District was proud to be one of the event sponsors, alongside the Southwest and Brays Oaks Management Districts and the City of Houston.

Held on a sunny afternoon, the event welcomed families from across multiple neighborhoods for a day filled with fun and togetherness. From bounce houses to lion dancing, face painting to classic games like the potato sack race, the day offered something special for everyone. Children raced to gather eggs, laughter echoed across the lawn, and the snow cone line stayed busy as neighbors cooled off with sweet treats.

But beyond the festivities, the Eggstravaganza had a deeper purpose. Events like these are an investment—an investment in trust, morale, and long-term community safety. In a diverse and vibrant city, building that trust takes time, effort, and genuine connection. It also requires visibility and presence, which is why community events are so important. When residents and officers get the chance to interact in positive, relaxed settings, it helps strengthen the bond that makes neighborhoods thrive.

Board Chair Tammy Rodriguez and Board Member Dorothy Fuentes attended on behalf of the Gulfton Management District. Their presence sent a strong message: Gulfton matters, and the people who live in Gulfton deserve the very best.

Council Member Edward Pollard also joined the celebration, spending time with residents and reinforcing the city’s commitment to supporting meaningful, community-centered events.

“Sponsoring this event is about more than just fun,” said Chair Rodriguez. “It’s about setting a precedence for our residents and showing them that we care. People want to live where they feel safe, respected, and connected. That’s the environment we’re building in Gulfton.”

The Management District has been leading strong efforts to beautify and uplift the area—from esplanade adoptions and tree plantings to litter cleanups and safety initiatives. Supporting events like the Eggstravaganza is just one more way the district is investing in the wellbeing of the people who call Gulfton home.

At its core, the event was a reminder that building a strong community starts with simple things: sharing a laugh, lending a hand, and showing up for one another. And in Gulfton, that’s exactly what’s happening.
