As we move into June following the turbulent weather in our region, Congresswoman Fletcher wants to highlight a funding opportunity outlined in our newsletter that could assist in addressing flooding in the area:
Flood Mitigation Assistance Swift Current (FMA Swift Current) – This federal program provides funding to mitigate buildings insured through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) after a major disaster declaration following a flood-related event, reducing the risk of future flood damage. The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) was recently allocated $40 million as the primary applicant for the FMA Swift Current Program. Cities, counties, special districts, and federally recognized tribes can apply to TWDB as sub-applicants. TWDB will share further details about the program’s rollout soon. The June edition is also packed with invaluable resources and opportunities. Here’s a brief summary of the new resources you will find in this edition:
- The Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization will conduct an outreach webinar on June 6, 2024, to discuss the Brownfields Job Training Grant opportunity.
- The Build America Bureau of the U.S. Department of Transportation is offering low-interest loans to finance transit-oriented development projects, promoting investment in public infrastructure and economic development.
- CHIPS for America has introduced a new platform to share updates on funding opportunities and demonstrate the alignment of workforce development with its initiatives.

Thank you and stay safe.
