New Rescue Boat Delivered to Station 28

Two years ago, Council Member Edward Pollard allocated $100,000 to the Houston Fire Department—the largest single allocation of his tenure—for the purchase of a new rescue boat designed to assist during high-water emergencies. Today, that boat has officially been delivered and is ready for deployment.

Stationed at HFD Station 28 in Gulfton—Houston’s busiest fire station—the 20-foot, 1-inch vessel (technically classified as a yacht due to its length) can safely transport up to 12 individuals during flood events. With flooding a frequent threat in the city, this rescue boat represents a critical investment in public safety for both residents and first responders.

Council Member Pollard extends his sincere appreciation to Captain Beau Moreno for his leadership, coordination, and dedication in bringing this effort to completion.
