Aspiring soccer stars and Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash pro soccer team members, at right, joined officials such as County Commissioner Lesley Briones (with scissors) and to her right Council Member Edward Pollard, Gulfton Area Management District Chair Tammy Rodriquez and Houston Parks and Recreation Department Director Kenneth Allen on Tuesday to officially open top-notch soccer practice facilities at Burnett-Bayland Park, the getting-better-all-the-time recreational heart of the Gulfton District.
The public officials worked with the soccer franchise to provide funding for the soccer “pitch,” with Rodriguez having served as one of the earliest advocates for the kind of improvements kids and adults now enjoy at the park.
